Week 11 Updates

For week 11, MUISS will be organising the last PR Consultation for the year on this coming friday morning in the MUISS Lounge. Secondly, MUISS will be having our Last Bash, and all those who are invited please RSVP with MUISS as soon as possible so that the necessary arrangements can be made.

As for international clubs, the only event is an International Students Exhibition organised by IDP, which is publicized by MUMSU. It will be on the 5th of October, this coming Friday. This event will be running from 10:30 am to 5:00 pm at Grand Hyatt Melbourne. Those who are interested feel free to come and gather more information regarding employment, migration, scholarships, higher learning institutions in Australia etc.

And as this will most probably be my last update, I wish everyone all the best for their exams and a successful year ahead to MUISS and all international clubs’ incoming committee. Cheers.

Mid Semester Break Updates

For the Mid semester break, there will be no activities from MUISS, but there are two activities from Korean Club and ASEAN that is worthy of notice. For Korean Club, there will be a Cocktail Evening on the 25th of September, while for ASEAN, they will be organising a Poker Night on the 30th of September.

Week 10 Updates

Very quickly, it is now the week before the mid semester break starts. MUISS has only one major event coming up this week, which is our PR Seminar. It will be the last PR Seminar from MUISS this year, so students who want to know the latest changes in legislation are highly encouraged to attend this seminar. Secondly, as a quick note, English Language Program (ELP) will be running as usual, so interested students please take note of that.

As for international clubs, there are a lot of events coming up this week, namely Japanese Club Cocktail Night, German Club’s Oktoberfest, SAM’s BBQ, MUMSU’s Annual Dinner & Dance, SAM’s Community Day at Brisbane, Korean Club Cocktail Evening, as well as ASEAN’s Poker Night. As the holidays approach, clubs take this opportunity to organise their major and last few events during this week. Therefore, all members are encouraged to attend and participate to have some last bits of fun before the grueling final examination revision starts after the holidays.

Week 9 Updates

Week 9; Perhaps the most important week for MUISS. MUISS elections will commence this week, and everyone is urged to vote in the MUISS lounge, Monday to Wednesday 12 to 2 pm. Your vote will truly make a difference, please come and have a say who will be the executive officers in MUISS next year. Secondly, Mid Autumn Festival (MAF) is on this coming Thursday. For those of you who have purchased your ticket, get ready for a memorable night! For those of you who have yet to buy one, tickets are still available in the MUISS lounge or at the MUISS booth opposite STA Travel. Thirdly, please take note that the PR Seminar has been postponed to a later date, and more information will be released when details are confirmed. Lastly, Newland Migration will be providing free consultations in MUISS Lounge this coming friday.

International clubs wise, MUMSU will be having a ‘Migration and Work in Australia’ seminar as well as their AGM. Furthermore, SAM will be having a bowling night coming Thursday. Thirdly, German Club will be having their AGM and also the Oktoberfest promotion during the AGM.

Week 8 Updates

Week 8 is a fairly quiet week for MUISS. However, there are still a few things to take note of. For the MUISS Executive Officer updates, nominations are now over, and it is campaigning period. Furthermore, there will be an election forum on the coming Tuesday, and international students are warmly invited to come for a Q&A session with our potential officers from 1- 2 pm. Secondly, Mid Autumn Festival (MAF) tickets are now available in the MUISS Lounge as well as in our booth duty opposite STA Travel. Interested students please visit one of the two places named to grab your tickets. Thirdly, our English Language Program (ELP) is now resumed as normal, interested students may join us every Tuesday and Wednesday 1-2 pm at the Conference Room.

As for international clubs wise, there are a whole range of activities for the members. Firstly, both ASEAN and MUMSU will be having their Annual General Meeting (AGM) soon, so members please take note of that. Secondly, MUMSU will be organising a ‘Migration and Work in Australia’ Seminar, and all are welcomed to join them. Thirdly, MUMSU will also be having their Annual Dinner & Dance in Melbourne Aquarium just before the semester break, and tickets are available now. Furthermore, German Club will also be having their Oktoberfest and AGM, while SAM will be having their Bowling Night. Also, CCSM will is giving out free AFL tickets to watch the Melbourne v Carlton match. Lastly, Korean Club will also be organising a Cocktail Evening soon.

    Week 7 Updates

    MUISS is proud to present you with a whole variety of activities this week. MUISS is now accepting nominations for its Executive Committee. Yup, you can run for one of the top 7 positions overseeing the operations of MUISS and all its committee as well as sub-committee. Furthermore, MUISS is organising a Movie & Bowling night out this coming Thursday, so please register your interest and pay for your ticket in the MUISS Lounge. Furthermore, Newland Migration will be organising a PR Consultation again coming Friday at MUISS lounge. For those of you who are interested, feel free to drop by for a session. Lastly, Mid Autumn Festival (MAF) is just three weeks away, and ticket sales will commence soon enough.

    As from other international clubs and societies, there are many fun filled activities being organised by clubs, namely ASEAN’s Cocktail Night, Korean Club’s Cocktail Night, CCSM’s Free AFL Tickets to Melbourne v Carlton, and MUMSU will be having two great events to celebrate their 50th Independence. Members should not miss out on these fun filled events. It will prove to a refreshing break from all the hectic university workload.

    Week 6 Updates

    This week MUISS brings you a list of jam packed activities. Not all are held in this week don’t worry. But still, quite a number of them. As MUISS and clubs committee come to an end, all societies strive to organize their final events before the committee step down. And a lot of the activities listed here are likely to be the last events you will see for most of the clubs.

    Now highlighting a few events from MUISS. MUISS is now accepting nominations for its Executive Committee. Yup, you can run for one of the top 7 positions overseeing the operations of MUISS and all its committee as well as sub-committee. Apart from that, in collaboration with MSA, MUISS will be giving out free bbq this coming Wednesday. Do not miss out! Food served by MUISS (and MUISS only) will be halal.

    Clubs wise, quite a list of cocktail nights and balls coming up. If you are one of their club members, do not miss out all these grand events ok? On a side note, SAM is having their AGM this week, members should attend and run for positions if they are interested. MUMSU will be having a basketball meet this saturday, and tickets will be available for sale this week.

    Week 5 Updates

    From MUISS, we are relatively quiet for Week 5. However, we do have a free PR Consultation kindly organised by Newland Migration coming this Friday (17th of August) at the MUISS lounge from 10-12 noon. Students are advised to make an appointment with Newland Migration or come early to avoid disappointment. However, a good news is, Newland Migration Lawyers will be here for consultation every odd academic week. Secondly, the Mid Autumn Festival (MAF) is going to be held on the 14th of September. Currently, we are in need of some volunteers. Interested individuals please PM Kellie (MAF Chairperson) or leave a message in the MAF thread. Thirdly, I would like to represent the entire MUISS and MMN committee in expressing our heartfelt thanks to each and everyone of you who made MMN such a fantastic success.

    As for international clubs, SAM is having a National Day Celebration on the 16th of August at the MUISS lounge to celebrate their nation’s 42nd birthday! Excited Singaporeans should not miss out on this fantastic event. Furthermore, Monash French Society is having their Annual General Meeting (AGM) on the 16th of August at E 365, Building 11. Attendance is highly encouraged, and attendance is compulsory for members who are interested in running for next year’s committee. Moreover, SICC is having their Corporate Dinner 2007 on the 16th of August, Thursday at Novotel Glen Waverly. Interested participants please contact SICC for further details. In addition, CCC will be organising their Vintage Ball on the 23rd of August. Interested participants can contact CCC for further details or click on the link provided below.
